Brand vision & philosophy

KnowledgeCotton Apparel has a Clear Vision

Through our use of 100% Certified Organic Cotton, it is our goal to save the environment from 150 tons of pesticides, chemicals and fertilizers by the year 2015.

This target is part of our plan to ‘Take Action', to respect the soil, underground waters, and human health. As we proceed toward this goal, we also pledge to share our progress and status. After all, we do share this Earth!

KnowledgeCotton Apparel builds on the philosophy of:

  • Gain Knowledge.
  • Take Action.
  • Earn Respect.

In a culture focused on calls to action, demands of change, and personal pledges of revolution, our belief is that any individual accomplishment is a small step in the process of change.

Our founding philosophy is one that hopes to spread knowledge, encourage discussion and make the leap from individual to collective participation.

At the heart of this philosophy is the notion of respect. We only use of 100% Certified Organic Cotton out of the respect for our Earth, Respect for You, the consumer, and Respect for Ourselves. Sustainable quality is at the heart of KnowledgeCotton Apparel.

Both knowledge and action are the foundation of respect.
We know that respect is earned, not commanded.

To earn respect, a transaction between people is involved. By changing the perspective focus from the individual to the collective group, we believe our concept of earning and giving respect is the first step to making a real difference. You may buy "green" to feel good about yourself, you may drive a hybrid vehicle to avoid the condemnations of others, but on the path to sustainable change, respect can only be given willingly by others and cannot be bought or sold.

To earn this respect we empower the strength of knowledge in creating a foundation for the sharing of ideas. More than just telling you what we will do, but also why we do it, and why we believe it is important. In this way, you are free to make your own decisions.

Likewise we also encourage you to share your own knowledge. Make a choice and live with the respect you earn. The true value of your decisions will ultimately be evaluated in the respect you earn.

Thus, we pledge not only action, but the sharing of knowledge and importance of respect.

We ask only that you enjoy KnowledgeCotton Apparel and earn your own respect.

Gain Knowledge. Take Action. Earn Respect.

Why Use and Wear 100% Certified Organic Cotton?

The Organic message is important to spread in particular around textiles and clothes. Few people are aware that conventional (non-Organic) cotton is the most toxic crop on our planet. It takes 165 grams of chemicals and pesticides to produce enough cotton to create just one t-shirt of conventional (non-Organic) cotton. These chemicals and pesticides impact our planet and health. It's important to spread the word so more people can ‘gain knowledge and take action' by buying the better alternative - Organic cotton. Organic farming is often produced by independent and family-owned farms, and helps support small-scale farming and fair-trade principles.

At KnowledgeCotton Apparel we act to ensure that all our Cotton is hand-picked from chemical-free, Certified Organic Cotton fields out of the respect for people and human life. KnowledgeCotton Apparel's Organic Cotton suppliers are certified by Control Union Certifications, in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S.). KnowledgeCotton Apparel only uses Organic Cotton of the highest quality.

Organic Cotton is good for the farmers and their families as they do not need to work with these toxic chemicals. It's good for the environment. Good for you, the consumer!

Organic Cotton Principles

From raw material to finished garment we follow a special process of best practice principles to reduce our impact on the Earth and treat our natural resources with respect and care.

Tested and Certified, our 100% Organic Cotton is produced by natural methods that reduce pollution and enhance sustainable ecosystems always ensuring uncompromised quality.

We know that respect is earned, not commanded.

Respect for Raw Materials
We know Organic farming starts with the soil. It takes over 0.50 Kg of Cotton and huge amounts of soil and water to produce a single T-shirt.

We act to ensure that compost, frequent crop rotations and cover crop strategies replace synthetic fertilizers to keep the soil and water healthy and productive.

We respect the soil, air and water and treat the Earth as a living system and not simply a growing medium for plants.

Respect for Healthy Production Practices
We know that each year, millions of Kilograms of toxic chemicals are dusted onto conventional (non-Organic) agricultural Cotton fields. Alone, conventional non-Organic Cotton fields in California are dusted every year with 3.45 million Kg of chemicals.

We act to ensure that all weeds are controlled by innovative farm machinery, hand labor or flame devices rather than herbicide or chemical applications. Fields must be free of synthetically-derived chemicals for three years in order to achieve Organic certification.

We respect the natural balance of the environment and work hard to source materials and use processes that reduce our impact on the environment.

Respect for People and Human Life
We know that the chemicals used in conventional (non-Organic) Cotton farming cause health issues in humans exposed in production or animals who feed on processed Cotton seed. Each T-shirt made from Organic Cotton saves 165 grams of synthetic fertilizers and farm chemicals and avoids contamination risks and hazards. In addition, Organic farming is often produced by independent and family-owned farms, and helps support small-scale farming and fair-trade principles.

We act to ensure all our Cotton is hand-picked from chemical-free, Certified Organic Cotton fields.

We respect all life.

Gain Knowledge. Take Action. Earn Respect.
